MovieBloc Q3 2026 Roadmap Achievements

General

Hello from the MovieBloc Team.
We are pleased to share that we successfully completed the key initiatives set out in our Q3 2026 roadmap. Throughout the quarter, we strengthened the foundation of trust across our platform by advancing our content protection technology and making it easier for creators to showcase and manage their work.
At the same time, we introduced a subscription model to build a more sustainable revenue structure and continued to expand our film festivals and special showcases across both online and offline channels, broadening the range of content and viewing experiences available on MovieBloc. We also updated moviebloc.io, the MovieBloc Foundation website, to create a dedicated channel for communicating with MBL holders.
Below are the key achievements from Q3 2026 and the progress we made in delivering greater value to both creators and audiences.

1. Enhanced Content Protection and Creator Submission Workflows

To strengthen trust in the platform while reducing the operational burden on creators, we made significant improvements to both our content protection infrastructure and submission workflows.

Enhanced Content Protection Features

To better safeguard creators' work and provide a more secure and trustworthy viewing environment, we upgraded our content protection features.
User-identifying watermarks are now displayed during playback, while protections against screen capture and recording have been strengthened. We also introduced restrictions on mirroring and output to external displays.
In addition, we enhanced our tracking capabilities to help identify the source and distribution path of unauthorized content leaks when they occur. These improvements provide stronger protection across the full range of content available on MovieBloc, including free content, individually purchased content (TVOD), and subscription content (SVOD).

Optimized Submission Process

We streamlined the submission and content management process for creators and festival partners.
For film festival submissions, we introduced a dedicated Easy Upload process that allows works to be registered using only the video file and essential information, without requiring creators to configure complex settings such as pricing, service territories, or settlements. Once a title has been submitted, the MovieBloc team manages the subsequent review, programming, and publication process.
We also introduced a Bulk Upload feature for festivals managing a large number of titles. By uploading video files and film information to a dedicated folder, multiple screening titles can now be prepared at once without having to register each work individually.
These improvements reduce the administrative burden on submitters while establishing a foundation that allows MovieBloc to support a greater number of festivals more efficiently.

2. Subscription Model Launch and Improved Service Accessibility

To support sustainable content consumption and create new revenue opportunities for creators, MovieBloc launched a recurring subscription model.
Subscribers can enjoy a rotating selection of curated content refreshed each month, along with access to select MovieBloc special showcases and a range of additional subscriber benefits.

A Fresh Catalog Every Month

In September, we introduced a diverse lineup of new titles.
The lineup included <The Mountain Between Us>, which began as a MovieBloc-supported project and went on to win Best Film and Best Actor at the Mise-en-scène Short Film Festival; <In Our Day>, which gained attention at major Korean film festivals; and <Be With Me>, offering audiences a new side of actor Kim Shin-rok.
We also presented online premieres from emerging distributor Sending You, including <On the way to kill the kick scooter>, <Midday UFO>, and <Hearty hands>.
From MovieBloc-supported productions and acclaimed festival titles to works by emerging creators and online premieres, we continue to expand our subscription catalog each month with films that offer distinctive perspectives and stories.
In October, we will continue introducing notable works from domestic and international film festivals alongside films from emerging creators, creating a catalog that gives subscribers something new to discover every month.

Improved Accessibility and Payment Convenience

We also upgraded our login and payment infrastructure to make accessing and purchasing content easier.
With the addition of Naver Login, users now have more convenient sign-in options. We also introduced Toss Pay and Kakao Pay, expanding the range of familiar local payment options available to users in Korea.
These updates allow users to choose the payment method that works best for them and access the content they want more conveniently.

3. Expanding Film Festivals and Special Showcases Across Online and Offline

Through continued collaborations with domestic and international film festivals and special showcases, MovieBloc expanded its content network while extending viewing experiences and subscriber benefits beyond the online platform and into physical festival venues.
This quarter, we presented two director-focused showcases: the Bagchol RIM Short Film Collection and the Dahee Yoo Director's Showcase. Each program offered audiences a closer look at an individual filmmaker and their body of work.
We also expanded our global content network through collaborations with three international festivals: the Warsaw International Film Festival, the Drama International Short Film Festival (DISFF), and ifva.
In Korea, we continued partnerships with four festivals and institutions: the Seoul International Women's Film Festival, ChunCheon Film Festival, Gyeonggi Film School Festival, and Seoul International Cinema & Media Art Festival (NeMAF).
We also expanded our efforts to connect online screenings with offline festival experiences.
At Gyeonggi Film School Festival 2026, MovieBloc subscribers were offered invitations to screenings and film and media industry programs. At the 28th Seoul International Women's Film Festival, purchasers of the online Early Bird Pass received on-site festival tickets.
Through these initiatives, we expanded subscriber benefits beyond online viewing and created more opportunities for MovieBloc audiences to experience festivals in person.
In total, MovieBloc carried out nine film festival, special showcase, and collaboration programs during Q3: two director showcases, three international festival collaborations, and four collaborations with domestic festivals and institutions.
From in-house curated programs that spotlight individual creators to partnerships with festivals in Korea and abroad and initiatives connecting online and offline experiences, MovieBloc continued to expand the ways audiences can discover and experience film.

4.moviebloc.io Update and Stronger Communication with MBL Holders

To improve transparency around the MBL token and foundation operations and strengthen communication with holders, we updated moviebloc.io, the official website of the MovieBloc Foundation.

MBL Token Information and Foundation Updates

moviebloc.io now provides MBL token information and updates on foundation operations, and serves as the official channel for delivering the latest news and events to MBL holders first. We also introduced a newsletter subscription so holders never miss an update. As cases of impersonation of MovieBloc and MBL have recently been identified, moviebloc.io and our official channels also serve as trusted sources where users can verify official information with confidence.

Closer Integration with the MovieBloc Service

Going forward, moviebloc.io will be more closely connected with the MovieBloc service, growing into a gateway through which MBL holders can access a wider range of benefits and features within the platform.
